Delicious, Affordable, Easy Homemade Bibimbap

I guarantee you, this will tantalize your taste buds.

Do you like Korean food?
Have you ever had Bibimbap?
What’s bibimbap? Bibimbap is a popular Korean dish consisting of mixed rice, colorful vegetables, protein, and a flavorful sauce. It’s a harmonious blend of fresh ingredients that create a delicious and satisfying meal. With a variety of vegetables, rice, and a spicy sauce, bibimbap offers a balanced and vibrant dining experience.
Japanese-Korean YouTuber and culinary researcher, Kokenetsu, with his expertise rooted in his Korean heritage, consistently presents recipes that are both effortlessly simple yet deliver restaurant-quality flavors. I have personally experimented with numerous of his recipes and been thoroughly impressed. However, if you’re unfamiliar with the ingredients and preparation methods for Bibimbap, it’s understandable why you might choose to dine at a restaurant. In recent times, due to the impact of inflation, enjoying Bibimbap at a restaurant in San Francisco can cost over $20 or more.

I’ll show you how, with just $25, you can make Bibimbap at home for 3-4 servings, assuming you already have rice and some basic seasonings. Don’t worry, I’ll also guide you on where to find affordable ingredients for this delicious dish.

I believe that sliced beef or shaved beef is not commonly found in American cuisine. However, you can easily find sliced beef at an Asian grocery store. Alternatively, you can also find it at Trader Joe’s. Personally, I often purchase grass-fed shaved beef from Trader Joe’s, which typically costs around $10 to $13 per pack. I usually utilize half of the meat for my current cooking, while storing the other half in the freezer for future use.
I also often cook with whatever ingredients I have in the refrigerator, which means I frequently omit certain ingredients, making the recipe even simpler.

How to cook:

Marinate beef with sake, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic.

        1. Heat sesame oil in a pan and sauté carrots and green leafy vegetables with salt. Once they are cooked, transfer them to a plate.
        2. In the same pan, cook the marinated beef. Once the beef is cooked, remove it from the pan and set it aside.
        3. Place the rice in the same pan (without heat) and mix it with the flavorful juices left in the pan from cooking the beef. Then, arrange the cooked vegetables and beef on top of the rice. Add kimchi to your liking and put gochujang on top of it. Cover the pan with a lid and cook for a few minutes.
        4. Turn off the stove, stir the food, and transfer it to a bowl. It’s time to eat!”

Using a frying pan, covering and cooking the rice at the end enhances its flavor.

Hope enjoy the Bibimbap, which is both incredibly delicious and affordable.
